So im heading the Brighton Music COnference next month ... got some very quick meetings/chats with some labels .. most of them are house based music .. so ive tried my hand at some of what i like to call house music ..  its only a day old .. the vocals are from an edit i did of Aretha Franklin tune " Rock Steady "    found cover versions by hall n oates and patti austin, all with great voices, made a breakbeat version with PAtti Austin' vocals .. so i though id make a tune with Hall n Oates vocals, which  i  lifted from their cover version  .. after adding some tight beats and techniques using my method  i came up with this

now the question is to Our Era Family, bearing in mind the tune isnt properly arranged or finished..  shall i keep the main verse ? or just ass some melodys and take the main verse out? ive got a nice idea planned for this tune .. the vocal is bugging me .. copyright nightmare ..

also any feed back generally would be good ..

@dhisk-jointed Yes mate! Good to see you delving into House now.

Loving the idea so far. The percussion grooves along nicely with the bass. The vocal chops are really cool as well.

It's a tough one using other peoples vocals though, especially when pitching to labels.

My advice would be to keep it as original as you can if you're mission is to get the track signed. With all of my remixes, I just put them as either free downloads or just use them in my DJ sets, and of course you can send them to other DJs to play in their sets.

Giving labels more work and more stuff to think about when pitching your track adds more work for them and more steps into the process of signing the track (getting it licensed/re-sung etc), and from experience, it can be a massive ball ache.

I would check Loopcloud/Spice and see if you can find some vocals with a similar vibe and tone to what you've got, and make it into an original. (The vocal chops are probably fine though. They can stay. I mean just for the main verse)

You could also use AI to make a new vocal for you. Did you see the new AI tool in yesterdays email newsletter? ACE Studio? This could work well for this project to be fair, if there's a soulful sounding voice model similar to the vibe you have. I haven't been through all of them yet.

Or, failing that, you can use ACE Studio to make the vocal/lyrics/melody, and then use KITS AI to change the voice for it, as I know they have a lot more voice models on there kits.ai.

In a nutshell... if its for labels, keep it original.

If it's for promo, free downloads, for DJs and for fun remix projects, then you can use bootlegged vocals.

Hope that helps brudda. Great track so far.

In case you want to say thank you 👍

Sounding cool so far @dhisk-jointed, I can't comment on copyright issues as  I stay as far away from anything that could need copyright clearing but I believe what @riggsy_dharkfunkh is probably the best advice.

That ACE studio is actually pretty cool piece of software, you can even sing and record your voice and then just change it to whichever voice model you want, it even keeps your vibrato etc from your original voice you recorded.

@jono_blanshard Really cool aint it! I've got a few vocal ideas with lyrics written out already. I'm gonna try out a track with them over the weekend. Be interesting to see!

@riggsy_dharkfunk update of the tune ... couldnt help it, but now its got more of a break, i love my breaks .. not saying i got carrie away, the tune had about4 different suttle kick drums, 2 house ish kick loops and then another couple of kick drums over the top of them .. was in the studio tdday, and boy has the sound changed .. even managed to start rubbing in a vocal i used for another tune many years ago .. still neds alot of work, but more of a tune now .. https://soundcloud.com/dhisk-jointed/moving-on-test-lftyv4/s-VDR5vpwWZcY?si=45f98d7b2594482aaaf9a91256c65638&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

@dhisk-jointed I'm diggin' this version. Definitely a fresh take on it. I still love the first one as well, though. if you've still got the project for the first version, I'd do 2 mixes of it. Best of both then. Wicked stuff

@dhisk-jointed No way. Wicked. I think we need to get him involved mate, once we've launched anyway 😎

Just having a look at the plugin. Sounding pretty good! Will have a go at the trial 👌
